Tikkurila in Vantaa, one of the metropolitan area’s regional centers, is located near the Helsinki border along the main railway, about a 15-minute train ride north of Helsinki city center. The airport is just over five minutes away. Tikkurila railway station is Finland’s third busiest, and the Dixi shopping center at the station offers diverse services from grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and kiosks to a gym, hair salons, and pet shops. Tikkurila also features the Tikkuri shopping center, Prisma, and several separate dining establishments.
The Heureka Science Center in Tikkurila is a popular destination, and during summer, people enjoy picnicking in the meadows along the Vantaa River next to Heureka. The riverbank is popular among joggers and nature enthusiasts. Tikkurila sports park, swimming hall, and ice rink offer excellent opportunities for diverse physical activities and sports.
Besides Heureka, other places worth visiting in Tikkurila include the old station building housing the Vantaa City Museum, the Silk Factory industrial quarter, the city hall and Galleria K art gallery, Kielotorni tower, and the Tikkurila Church completed in 2021, featuring Finland’s only mechanical carillon in its upper section.
