Rajakylä, consisting of detached houses, has abundant forest areas. The forests feature stone-paved cannon roads and First World War-era trenches, whose construction began in 1914 for the defense of St. Petersburg. According to historical records, Rajakylä’s current main road, Maratontie, was originally a forest path that was built through voluntary community work and unemployment relief work, and later surfaced with stone paving.
